Signing up is easy. Becoming a member of the 'Join Once' scheme means you become a member of Exeter and Essential Devon Tourism Partnership, Destination Devon and South West Tourism. - National Quality Assurance Schemes (NQAS)

In a competitive market, quality assurance schemes offer the independent stamp of approval that guests increasingly demand. There are currently two nationally recognised schemes owned by The AA and VisitBritain.

To participate in the www.visitsouthwest.co.uk website, you must be a member of a national recognised quality assurance scheme.

* VisitBritain Advisory Visits

FREE advisory visits for accommodation business operators looking to improve their star rating, try for a Silver or Gold award or seeking advice from the assessor prior to making improvements to your property. (N.B.Visits would be pre-arranged and be up to one half-day and subject to availability. Larger establishments wanting a 'mystery guest' overnightassessment to assess service and hospitality levels can pay an additional fee and upgrade to an overnight advisory visit.)

* VisitBritain workshops

VisitBritain accommodation ratings can benefit from heavily discounted rates for 'Quality' one-day workshops to be run in late spring/early summer 2008 at top locations across the region. Aimed to inspire, inform and encourage debate, the sessions will be of interest to owners and managers from all sectors and include presentations from successful operators happy to share their experience - £10.00 + VAT (normally £55.00 + VAT).

AA discounts

New/first time applicants will receive a 15% discount off all quoted 2008 fees for AA accommodation recognition schemes. A range of fee paying 'mystery guest' and training services are also available.

You will receive regular newsletters and updates from the Exeter and Essential Devon Tourism Partnership which will include information from Destination Devon and South West Tourism, giving you a single source of valuable information. The types of topics covered in these communications will include:

Business advice

You will have access to the expertise and knowledge of the staff at Destination Devon for all types of advice and guidance. Destination Devon is working in close partnership with Peninsula Enterprises, the new Business Link operators in Devon, to provide you with additional business support.

Exeter and Essential Devon is developing its website to offer you up to date and relevant information on its services.There are links to other helpful sites where we are developing partnerships and joint activities.


Training and Events

Training courses

Exeter and Essential Devon Tourism Partnership is delivering a programme of training and skills support through the Devon Tourism Skills Network. For information on local training courses, funding and advice, visit www.destination-devon.com/training

Priority access to training

As a member of Exeter and Essential Devon Tourism Partnership, you will be entitled to receive priority notification of all training courses organised by the Devon Tourism Skills Network and an opportunity to book before courses are made 'public'. The majority of courses are heavily subsidised.

Training updates and information

You will regularly receive an electronic newsletter updating you on a range of skills and training opportunities, news and hot-topics on offer from the Devon Tourism Skills Network.

Exclusive networking and membership events

You will have access to events organised by Exeter and Essential Devon Tourism Partnership, such as

Representation

Lobbying support on industry issues from South West Tourism

Lobbying support on industry issues at a local, regional and national level. Some examples of previous support include:

  1. The planned expansion to Bristol airport
  2. Lobbying for improvements to rail services and journey times throughout the region
  3. Providing advice and support to the National Partners for England Initiative
  4. Providing a tourism voice for various visitor initiatives surrounding the 2012 Olympics.
