Welcome to Ashridge Farm, a 200 acre working organic farm set in the beautiful Mid Devon countryside, with cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens and cereals. You will stay in a warm friendly barn conversion with home cooking. All rooms are on the ground floor with ensuite facilities and underfloor heating. One room has a mobility M2 certificate. There is a large lawn where children can play safely.
Farm holidays are great fun at Ashridge. Guests can help feed the chicken and collect the eggs for breakfast, and feed the lambs. There are 200 acres to roam with wildlife in abundance.
The area is excellent for walking with a marked trail around the farm, good public footpaths in the surrounding countryside including green lanes and sections of the long distance foot paths within easy reach.
Ashridge Farm is an ideal venue to centre a holiday or short break. Within an hours drive you have both the South and North Devon coast, Dartmoor and Exmoor, and Exeter and Tiverton are both only 14 miles. The Farm is only 20 miles from the M5 motorway.
On the north coast of Devon between Minehead and Ilfracombe the peaceful wooded hill and heather moors reach down to the sea and between Hartland and Bude in Cornwall there are 100m cliffs with wild Atlantic seas pounding in. The south coast is very different with the sandy beaches of Dawlish and Exmouth and towns like Torquay and Paignton.
Exeter is a wonderful old city dating back to before Roman times. There are many attractions including the beautiful Cathedral, the remains of the Roman wall that surrounded the old City are still intact in parts. There are underground passages running beneath the city, which are open to visitors. Exeter has an open campus university with the famous Northcott Theatre which puts on many very good productions.
Crediton is an old market town and the birthplace of St Boniface in 680AD. The large red sandstone church was once the cathedral seat of the first bishop of Cornwall & Devon. There is a very good golf course and sports centre with swimming pool.
Tiverton, another old market town, is home to Tiverton castle which is now a museum. It is the start of the Great Western Canal which is still open for 11 miles with barge trips. The nearby National Trust property Knightshays, home to the Heathcott family, has beautiful gardens.
