Fox and Hounds Country Hotel

The Fox and Hounds Hotel, nestled in Eggesford Forest and set alongside the River Taw, offers a comfortable stay, fine forest walks and great fishing. An ideal location to enjoy the Devon countryside and explore the local market towns. Situated on the A377, halfway between Exeter and Barnstaple, a 2 minute walk from Eggesford Station.

Our talented chef creates excellent meals, with ingredients sourced locally. We are open all day, serving breakfast, lunch and evening meals. Our bar is well stocked offering local ales and cider, tea and coffee. Children and pets are welcome. We have 18 en suite bedrooms, including a family room and one ground floor room. The hotel is the perfect wedding location set in beautiful surroundings. We can offer conference facilities, corporate entertainment and country sports. With fishing on the River Taw on our doorstep, we offer special 3 day fishing breaks/shooting breaks. Clay shooting, horse riding breaks and Falconry can be arranged. Fly fishing tuition and ghillie service available. Rods and waders can be hired.

Road Directions

From Exeter: Take the A377 towards Barnstaple. Continue through Crediton and after approx. 14 miles you will pass Eggesford Station and the hotel is just after this on your left.

M5 travelling south: Exit junction 27 and take A361 towards Tiverton. Take A396 signposted Tiverton/Bickleigh until you reach A3072 to Crediton. Follow this until the junction of the A377 and head towards Barnstaple. After approx. 14 miles you pass Eggesford Station and the hotel is just after this on your left.
