The Barn Rodgemonts

The Barn, from the driveway in front of the house

Rodgemonts, a 17thC thatched property, lies within an 'island' of fields and its own woodland overlooking the Little Dart Valley and offers the visitor peace, tranquillity and complete privacy. Come and go at will to the comfortable and attractive accommodation in the barn with balcony overlooking woods and farmland.

One double bedroom with its own sitting room, colour TV and radio and one twin bedroom with colour TV and radio. Both rooms have en suite shower rooms and coffee/tea making facilities.

We welcome guests into our adjoining thatched cottage for delicious breakfasts including home-produced apple juice from our own orchard, fresh fruit from the garden and homemade preserves. All other produce, where possible, is bought and produced locally.

We have a nine acre woodland classed by the Forestry Commission as 'Ancient/Semi-Natural' which we are busy regenerating the native hardwoods such as oak, ash and cherry etc. and we have dormice in the wood in the hazel coppice. As a result of this we have done away with our oil fired Aga in the kitchen and replaced it with a woodburning only Rayburn which heats the water, does our central heating and on which guests' breakfasts are cooked. Guests are invited to walk in the woodland if they are interested, at present thousands of purple foxgloves abound in the wood following on from the bluebells.

We are ideally situated between Exmoor and Dartmoor with some beautiful walks within easy reach. Many National Trust properties and beautiful gardens as well as the North Devon coast are within 40 minutes drive.

There are many interesting and varied pubs and restaurants nearby as well as further afield - all well worth visiting.

This is a beautiful area with much to offer to everyone.
